Alexander R. Aurora, M.D. Dr. Aurora, is a general surgeon with expertise in bariatric surgery and
advanced laparoscopic procedures. He joins the Upper Chesapeake Surgical
Associates practice and is a vital addition to the Upper Chesapeake
Bariatric Surgery team. Dr. Aurora completed his undergraduate education in
physiology at the University of Ottawa in Canada. He received his medical
degree from the University of Lausanne, Switzerland in 2000. Dr. Aurora
completed his general surgery training at Johns Hopkins Hospital and Sinai
Hospital in Baltimore. In 2011, he completed a fellowship in advanced
minimally invasive surgery at Case Western Reserve University School of
Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio.
Reneé N. Carter, M.D. Dr. Carter earned her undergraduate as well as her Master's degree from
Johns Hopkins University. She received her medical degree from New York
Medical College in Westchester County, New York. Dr. Carter completed her
surgical residency at York Hospital, where she also served as chief
resident.
Most recently, she has been at Life Bridge Health, where she completed a
bariatric fellowship at Sinai Hospital and a minimally invasive surgery
fellowship at Northwest Hospital. Dr. Carter will be performing the
laparoscopic Roux en Y gastric bypass, the vertical sleeve gastrectomy and
the adjustable gastric banding. She also has a special interest in single
incision laparoscopic surgery.
Sung Kim, M.D. Dr. Sung (Sonny) Kim joined the Upper Chesapeake
Surgical Associates practice based in Havre de Grace,
Maryland in 2007. He earned his undergraduate degree
from the University of California at Irvine and his
medical degree at Howard University in Washington,
D.C. Board certified in general surgery, he served
as chief resident at Howard University Hospital in
Washington, D.C.
Dr. Kim completed a two-year fellowship in advanced minimally invasive surgery. He has proctored other surgeons on cutting edge, laparoscopic techniques. Most recently, Dr. Kim completed a proctorship in bariatric surgery with Dr. Terrence M. Fullum, the Medical Director of the Upper Chesapeake Bariatric Surgery program. Dr. Kim will be performing laparoscopic gastric bypass and laparoscopic gastric banding procedures in addition to his other areas of expertise including hernia, bowel, gallbladder and appendix. Dr. Kim is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
